Problem Note 38503: Deleting a scan in the SAS® BI Lineage Plug-in does not reduce the size of the BI Lineage metadata repository
When a BI Lineage scan is deleted, the underlying SAS metadata table rows are marked for deletion, but the physical table size is not reduced. If you are regularly deleting and recreating scans, then the size of the repository tables can grow large enough to affect performance.
To see if you have a lot of rows that are marked for deletion, you can perform these steps:
- Open an interactive Base SAS session.
- Define a library that points to the location of the BI Lineage repository.
- View the properties on the large tables and click on the Details tab. If the Deleted Rows attribute is greater than zero, then there are rows marked for deletion.
If you are experiencing performance problems, contact SAS Technical Support for assistance in deleting the marked rows.
